Marilyn R. Lawrence, President

Ms. Lawrence is currently retired.  She has been in management positions for communications activities since 1979.  Most recently she managed KCSM, San Mateo County’s Radio and Television stations.  Her employment includes positions at Hewlett Packard and Tandem Computers as well as being self-employed.  Additionally she served on the community advisory board for KZSU, Stanford University’s student run radio station.  Ms. Lawrence supported Redwood City School by being on the Site Council and bringing substantial technology to Roy Cloud School.  Marilyn has been one of Girl Scout Troop 32609 leaders for 20 years.  She has also served in Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Sea Scout leadership positions.

Marilyn brings skills of management including, budgeting, resource management, fundraising, and managing volunteers and other partners so all stakeholders feel valued.   As a youth I got to experience the waterfront activities that Redwood City, specifically Redwood Creek, had to offer.  I would love to see a facility that would create a “One-Stop” place where youth can experience many different opportunities exist.

Jonathan T. Saatman, Vice President

Mr. Saatman is currently a full time student at California State University East Bay, working towards his nursing degree. He is also employed at 3-V Bio-sciences, a local bio-science company on the research and development team. He has been an active member of the Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts since 2003, giving time back to communities on the peninsula through service projects.

Mr. Saatman brings his experience in working with today’s youth, and will help make Redwood City Youth Maritime a safe, inclusive space where youth of all different backgrounds and ideologies will be welcomed and valued for their interest in the water.

Michael Ray Marzano, Secretary/Treasurer

Mr. Marzano is currently the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Union Sanitary District.  He served as the Safety Manager for the County of San Mateo from 1988 to 2006.  He has served on the board of the County Safety Officer Organization of California and the California Water Environment Association, SF Bay Section, Safety Committee.  He also server 11 years in the United States Navy.  Mr. Marzano has served his community by being the CFO for First Presbyterian Church Newark and now participates as a Finance Committee member.  Mr. Marzano sits on the Board of Directors for the Pacific Skyline Council of the Boy Scouts of America serving as a member of the Risk Management Committee.    Mr. Marzano has also served as the primary leader of Sea Scout Ship Gryphon since 1993, and an assistant leader with Mariner Girl Scout Ship Tradewind since 1981, serving the youth of the Redwood City Community.   Mr. Marzano has received numerous awards and recognition for his service to youth.

Mr. Marzano brings his experience as a non-profit Board Member and skill of managing budgets as well as his understanding of the needs and desires of today’s youth.  He is also working to fulfil one of his dreams of seeing a water front facility where youth can experience the wonders of Redwood Creek and the San Francisco Bay.
